Noah’s Ark Preschool began as a mission of Quakers Hill Uniting Church, opening its doors in 1999 after church members recognised a growing need in the community. Many young families were moving into the area without nearby support networks, and the church felt called to create a place where children and families could find connection, belonging, and care. From the beginning, Noah’s Ark was designed to be different from other long-day-care centres: a warm, 8am–4pm preschool where staff had time to build genuine relationships with families at the start and end of each day.
Rooted in a distinctly Christian ethos, the preschool has always focused onrelationships, kindness, and service. Faith is expressed through the way staff care for children, support families, pray with the children each day, and weave Christian valuesand stories naturally into daily life. A Christian Director has always led the centre, shaping its culture and ensuring its mission remains strong.
Over the years, Noah’s Ark has become deeply woven into the life of the church and community. Families and staff have shared countless BBQs, discos, picnics, carols nights, graduations, craft evenings, parenting talks, and special celebrations. A defining moment in the preschool’s history came in 2013, when a devastating fire destroyed the preschool, church, and Wesley Mission offices. In the midst of shock and loss, the Noah’s Ark community rallied with extraordinary unity. With the support of volunteers, families, Uniting Early Learning, and Riverstone Uniting Church, the preschool reopened just two weeks later in a temporary location—because families chose to stay together. This season became a powerful reminder that Noah’s Ark is more than a building; it is a community held together by faith, commitment, and love.
The rebuild that followed allowed the preschool to create a bigger, brighter, purpose-built centre, shaped by input from staff, families, architects, and the church. Since then, Noah’s Ark has continued to grow, welcoming an increasingly multicultural community and strengthening its focus on supporting vulnerable families and children with additional needs.
Today, Noah’s Ark Preschool remains a joyful, inclusive, and faith-filled place where children are known, valued, and encouraged to thrive. The partnership with Quakers Hill Uniting Church continues through a volunteer management board and weekly visits from ministry staff who share fun, musical Bible stories. Annual picnics, carols, and community events keep the connection strong. Through every season—growth, challenge, rebuilding, and renewal—Noah’s Ark has stayed true to its mission: to be a welcoming, high-quality, affordable Christian preschool where relationships, community, and care are at the heart of everything we do.
