At Noah’s Ark Preschool
the educators believe we provide a high-quality Christian, community based, early childhood service - the primary goal of which is to honour the God-given uniqueness of each child, in order to assist them to develop to their fullest potential. Noah’s Ark Preschool will endeavour to create an environment that reflects our beliefs, values and attitudes.

Our philosophy is built on 6 core areas:

Children

We see children as unique and capable individuals, who come to our centre with their own interest, talents, skills and ideas. As educators’ we value, respect and appreciate this uniqueness. We feel children have a right to a sense of belonging, being and becoming.

Families

Family is the most important and influential aspect in the lives of young children. We involve parents and families into all aspects of the program’s development and implementation. We provide a place for families to find a sense of belonging, a sense of community and a network for mutual support, enhancing respectful relationships with each family member.

Learning and belonging

At Noah’s Ark the curriculum is the foundation, using the Early Years Learning Framework’s principles and practices educators use a holistic approach to children’s learning, that we value children’s voice and acknowledge their ideas. We believe it is necessary to provide experiences that give children opportunities to nurture their respect for, and love of, the environment by providing a platform for ongoing environmental education.

Inclusion and diversity

We understand that children often develop their ideas and understandings of the world around them from the information presented to them by the significant adults in their lives. As we are one of these significant adults, we have a responsibility to present a positive approach to inclusion and diversity.

Noah’s Ark has respect for diversity engaging and building partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups considering and including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the learning environment.

Community

We strive to be seen as a centre of excellence within our community, a centre which values community involvement, in all aspects of our program. We aim to do this within an environment which offers support and encouragement to all, including children, families, educators, management and the wider community.

Management

We believe the management of Noah’s Ark Preschool is a critical aspect of the overall structure of the service. The management board, Uniting and Noah’s Ark community work in partnership using the four core values of Uniting ‘imaginative, bold, respectful and compassionate, that embraces social justice and advocacy.
